Be Brave!

Its crazy when everything sort of, themes up together, if you know what I mean. But not really too crazy if you think about it.

Last night we had a really good Relief Society activity where they presented our theme for the year and showed a little video and had some really good messages shared. I'm not completely sure what the exact theme is but it's summed up as - Be Brave! Turn your "would like to do" into "I can, I will, I did!" and I think the scripture they might choose to go with it is Phillipians 4:13 "I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me." And they challenged us all to think of something we have thought about doing, but haven't been brave enough to do it, for whatever reason, and make this the year that we conquer that fear and achieve what we want to do.

It's just funny because this year I really am taking my New Year's resolutions seriously. I've resolved to do a few things that I haven't been the best at, partly because of some little fears that I have. The Spirit was so strong at the activity last night and I kept feeling like I'm on the right path to make myself better by keeping these resolutions and trying my hardest and not giving in to fear.

One of the comments that was shared just mentioned how if you share your goals with someone else, they will hold you to it and give you more motivation to accomplish your goals. So I'll share my Resolutions with you all

  • Start blogging again so that hopefully I can inspire someone else just a little
  • Learn the scriptures better. Which includes reading them more, and going to Gospel Doctrine class on Sundays where we study them as a group.
  • Be a better Friend. (This is definitely the one where fear has held me back A LOT, but not this year!)
  • Go back to school and earn my Bachelor's!
  • Be happier - not complain about things as much, be a nicer mom/wife, etc.

Then some goals for my family

  • Read the Book of Mormon together every night
  • Hold Family Home Evening every Monday
  • Be super frugal and not go in to debt

I'm looking forward to everything this year is going to bring to our family and all the adventures we are going to have! For some reason this year just feels different and more exciting. I feel a stronger resolve to really change myself and try harder to be a little better.

I hope everyone can try to be a little better every day. New Year's resolutions don't have to be forgotten in February, and you don't need a new year to change, we get a new day every 24 hours, or even a new hour every 60 minutes. You can decide to change and be better any time you want! Good luck to every one this year, I hope it brings you somewhere better for yourself!
