Well, yesterday was probably the most exciting day so far this year! I'll give you some background. So Mike had been working for the SD Recreation Center as a gym supervisor for Junior Jazz. Well, that job was pretty crappy, always cutting him hours, then calling last minute to reschedule games or something. Two weeks ago, that job ended. Mike knew it was coming to an end so he had been putting in applications EVERYWHERE! Every single day he'd be on his computer looking up more jobs to apply to. He seriously applied to close to 40 or more jobs. Guess how many called him back. TWO!
We were getting so frustrated and stressed. We went and talked to our bishop, who is AMAZING, to see if he could help us. He contacted the ward employment specialist who emailed Mike like 3 job application. Then Mike went to the employment specialist office in Layton, got a profile all set up and was still applying for more jobs.
Finally one day, the airport called him back! Finally some light in our dark times. Well, after going to an interview and waiting almost a week and a half, we heard back and it was a no. But by the time we heard back, Mike had heard from another company, True Green Lawn Care. He had applied for a Salesman/Customer service position with them. He had a phone interview with them just last Thursday. They invited him to come the next day for an in person interview. That went really well. Then they invited him to come back Monday (yesterday) for a third interview with the branch manager. Well, Mike came home from that beaming! But he had to wait til 8 pm last night to hear if they would give him the job or not. Well, 8:30 rolls around, they call him and
He Got the Job!!!
It was seriously like a huge weight had been lifted off us. This is probably the best opportunity Mike could get! In 90 days, he'll start his 401k, medical, dental and vision insurance and be making about 4 times as much as we've ever made! I'm most excited because we will be able to start saving a bunch of money, to one day put as a down payment on a house, and also because with health insurance, we can start a family soon!
We just want to thank everyone for their support through these tough times. We know everyone has been praying for us and we know it helped us! We did learn from our trial. Nothing was falling into place until after we stopped complaining and worked together to make life good no matter who was working or how much we were making. We know the Lord loves us and helped us through this. I just hope we will remember our lesson so we don't have to go through it again!
